Members of the Richmond 34 Discuss Racial Implications in the Court System at Virginia Union University
The Richmond 34 were arrested for sitting at Thalheimers department store lunch counter on February 22, 1960. The protest was the largest in the nation at its time, taking place just a few weeks after the lunch counter protests in Greensboro, North Carolina. Click here to read more.

Gilbert Gets 100th Win As VUU Coach

Virginia Union University's AnnMarie Gilbert became only the second women's basketball coach in school history to win 100 games as coach of the Lady Panthers as VUU defeated Bowie State University 52-51 on Wednesday, January 23, in Bowie, Md. Click here to read more.

Lady Panthers Take Freedom Classic
The 24th Freedom Classic featured several local vendors, musical performances and a nearly sold-out crowd at Virginia State’s new Multi-Purpose Center, but it was Shareka McNeill and Virginia Union that stole the show in a 73-49 victory over the Trojans on Saturday, January 19. Virginia Union University's Terrell Leach scored 25 points while Will Jenkins had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds as VUU defeated Lincoln University of Pennsylvania 78-75 on Saturday, January 26, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va. Click here to read more.
Carter’s 18–18 Night Powers VUU to Win
Virginia Union University's Jasmine Carter scored 18 points and grabbed 18 rebounds as VUU downed Lincoln University of Pennsylvania 76-40 on Saturday, January 26, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va. Click here to read more.
Women’s Track Compete Against D-I Teams
The Virginia Union University women’s track and field team spent the Christmas break clocking top CIAA performances on the track and in the field. NCAA racing continued over the holiday in full swing, with Panthers competing at meets at George Mason University, the New York City Armory, and the Virginia Military Institute. Competition included Division 1 schools such as Texas State, GMU, Norfolk, Hampton, and Howard. Click here to read more.

The Virginia Union University Syphax School of Education partners with John Marshall High School 21st Century Program to present college/university awareness
On November 10th, Dr. McShepard, Interim Dean, School of Arts & Sciences, presented a science lesson on Microscopy to the group. The students were able to view various items under the Microscope. The lesson was very engaging and the students enjoyed the lesson. VUU students who participated were Daniel Brown '19 Kevin Lee Jr. '19, Semaj Braddock '20, Deshane Davis '20, Aliyah Jones '19.
